'Occupy Wall Street' Growing More Organized

The three-week-old campout in a lower Manhattan plaza looks like a jumble of tattered sleeping bags. But volunteers working on food, sanitation, health care and other needs keep the Occupy Wall Street protest functioning.

Charice Performs Theme Song on Final Fantasy XIII-2 Soundtrack

Charice and Japanese singer Mai Fukui
I don't really tell everyone about this, but yes, ever since Charice made a career in the US of A, I kept on following her life and success. Few days ago, she made another leap, this time making the computer gaming community proud as she showcases her vocal prowess. To wit, Charice performed the new theme song of Final Fantasy XIII-2 entitled, “New World” collaborating with Fukui Mai who will be performing "Yakusoku no Basho'.

Final Fantasy centers on a series of fantasy and science-fantasy role-playing video games (RPGs), but includes motion pictures, anime, printed media, and other merchandise. It is a media created by Hironobu Sakaguchi, and is developed and owned by Square Enix. Final Fantasy XIII-2 is the direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII, a part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series. It takes place three years after the events of Final Fantasy XIII, and depicts the story of Serah's search for her missing sister, Lightning, in a world trying to rebuild after the fall of Cocoon.

Charice, from a Youtube sensation star to an Oprah favorite, who is now under the guidance of the legendary musical producer David Foster commented on her new project.

“I just want to thank everybody for giving me a chance to be part of it. It’s such a beautiful atmosphere, beautiful.
“When I recorded the song, I was like, ‘This is a great song.’ It’s like, you can really relate to it. Not only me, but all the people.”

Kuwait Al-Azraq Defeats Philippine Azkals 3-0

The Philippine Azkals had failed to bring the victory after they lost to Kuwait Al-Azraq with score 3-0. The Azkals were not able to defend the midfield and the back line due to the absence of Azkals two defenders, Borromeo and Shrock. Another factors is the heat that scourges up at least 44 degrees centigrade although the game was held at night.

The Philippine Azkals use a 4-5-1 formation with Chieffy Caligdong playing at center and the team captain. The 4-5-1 formation uses 4 defenders, 5 midfielders, and lone striker. Angel Guirado moved to the left wing and a tactic making any offensive to have difficulty in attacking.

Afghans Protesting the 'Burn-A-Koran Day'

In connection with the 'Burn-A-Koran Day' proposition by Pastor Terry Jones from a small Christian church in Florida, USA there are now thousands of Afghans who are protesting a small American church's plan to burn the Muslim holy book. At least 11 people have been injured.

Police in the northern province of Badakhshan say several hundred demonstrators ran toward a NATO compound where four attackers and five police were injured in clashes. Protesters also burned an American flag at a mosque after Friday prayers.

US Government Says Plan to Burn Korans 'Un-American'

The State Department described the plan of Terry Jones as "un-American" to burn Korans in memory of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks -- though the head of that church says he is not deterred.

It doesn't represent the vast majority of American views according to P.J. Crowley which is the State Department spokesman.

Even Obama tells Rev. Terry Jones to call off 'International Burn-a-Koran Day'.

President Obama is appealing to a Florida pastor to listen to the "better angels" of his nature, and call off his incendiary plan to burn Korans on 9/11.

Terry Jones, the Pastor Behind 'Burn a Koran Day' Controversy

Like the prophets of old, Terry Jones has a message -- and it's fiery.

The controversial Florida preacher, who first lit a spark on Facebook when he called for people around the world to set fire to copies of the Koran, is now at the center of an international conflagration.

Jones' plan to set ablaze thousands of copies of the Muslim holy book on Sept. 11, a day he's dubbed International Burn a Koran Day, has become a flashpoint. What has been seen for weeks as a strange front in the culture wars, this weekend became a front in America's real war, with Gen. David Patraeus weighing in to say he believed the display would be detrimental and dangerous to U.S. troops fighting in Afghanistan.

Jackie Chan, a native of Hong Kong, starred in several Hollywood films, including blockbuster “The Karate Kid”, tweeted about the Philippine Hostage Taking earlier today. In his Twitter account, Chan said he heard about “the terrible news” upon returning to Hong Kong from Korea.

“I come back to hk & I hear terrible news about what happened in filippines [sic]. A lot of things don’t happen to your own country you don’t pay attention,”

Chan noted the hostage taking could have happened elsewhere but it was heartbreaking that it had to happen to Hong Kong citizens.

Picture Taking: Policemen After Hostage Crisis, Re-training To Follow

I recently came across this photo spread over the Internet which was shared just minutes ago by my friend in Plurk. You can see here these 'gentle' men smiling and posing right near the bus which was hi-jacked. But let me take you to the whole subject of this article. In an interview with the Philippine Inquirer, Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo admitted that mistakes had been made.

Philippine police have admitted they did not have the skills, equipment or training to handle Monday's bus siege, in which eight Hong Kong tourists were killed after being taken hostage. The force said talks with the gunman had been handled poorly, and relations with the media had broken down. Security experts, survivors and Chinese officials have all criticised the Philippine authorities.

They even had an article on their website that the Philippines didn’t need the deadliest attack on foreign tourists to expose the flaws in its security forces.

Chinese Nationals Killed in Manila Hostage Crisis, Hostage-Taker Dead

A tragic death and bloodshed ended the 12-hour hostage drama aboard a Philippine bus yesterday , with at least seven Chinese tourists dead along with the disgruntled ex-policeman who hijacked the vehicle and demanded his job back, officials said.

The killing of eight Hong Kong tourists taken hostage on a Manila bus has generated a huge outpouring of grief, frustration and anger in the Chinese territory.

Obama supporting Muslim Rights, Mosque Construction in Progress

"An assertion of Islamist triumphalism", a few words that came out of Former Speaker Newt Gingrich tagging the said project. Ever since the news of this project became known, various groups and politicians have vehemently opposing the project. Sarah Palin called this project a stab in the heart of the families of victims from the 9/11 terrorist attack.

President Obama, defending the right of the Muslims to build a 13-storey cultural center and a mosque to be named Cordoba House at a stone's throw from Ground Zero. The US President gave his support for the project in the presence of US Congressmen, government officials and diplomats, stressing out that this project should be pushed through, otherwise, it would contradict to US' commitment to religious freedom.
Marking the beginning of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan,Obama highlighted what opposing parties have avoided mentioning; that the project is short distance away from the hallowed Ground Zero and on private land subject to local laws. Obama further stated that the United States welcomes people of all faith to live in the country and the law treats all religious groups as equal. Furthermore, he said, that the project must have the "GO" signal of the concerned authorities just like any other project of any religious community in the USA.

Iraq's military is ready and able to take over security operations as the United States ends it combat role and prepares for a major troop withdrawal, the commander of U.S. forces in Iraq said Sunday. With this, The United States will withdraw about 4,000 troops from Iraq by the end of October, the U.S. military commander in Iraq said in testimony prepared for a congressional hearing on Wednesday.

Last remaining batches of American soldiers were pulled out of Iraq on Thursday, a sign that United States will be ending its opeartions in the said Middle Eastern country. The last of the 4th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division armored vehicles rolled into Kuwait Thursday morning, seven-and-a-half years since former President George W. Bush launched an all-out war against then-Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein on suspicion that the oil-rich country in the Middle East was keeping weapons of mass destruction. However, thousands of military and civilian deaths later, the U.S. has still to find the purported WMD cache of Hussein’s regime.

China is New Second-Largest Economy next to USA

China has officially claimed the title as the world’s second-largest economy next to the United States after erstwhile no.2 Japan suffered a significant fall in gross domestic product in the second quarter compared to three months ago.

The Japanese government announced on Monday that the country’s annualized GDP growth in the second quarter was only 0.4 percent, a big drop compared to the first-quarter growth of 4.4 percent. Japan’s second-quarter numbers suggest that global recovery from recession is not yet in full swing despite the continuing surge of the Chinese economy.

Malawi Changes its National Flag

The African nation of Malawi has adopted a new flag starting July 29. The political opposition of the country, Opposition United Democratic Front is challenging it in the courts.

The new flag was endorsed and approved by the country’s President Bingu wa Mutharika. It was proposed by the ruling Democratic Progressive Party. The new flag has reversed the order of the three colors of the flag from top to bottom. It is now red, black then green. Previously, it had been black, red and green.  The new flag is now youngest state flag in the world.

The previous flag also has a rising sun at the black stripe. The new flag sports a full sun at the middle of the flag. The old flag has been in use since 1964.
